Warrior Prayers {eBook Review}

I met Brooke McGlothlin at Relevant in October. We had connected briefly on Twitter through the MOB (Mothers of Boys) Society. And once I met her, I knew I was meeting someone special.

She is passionate and authentic. I heard her speak about her passion for praying God’s Word over her two boys, and I thought, Why am I not doing that more?

So when she announced she had written an eBook called Warrior Prayers: Praying the Word for Boys in the Areas They Need it Most, based on her passion, I knew I had to read it. I bought a copy and read it in one sitting, and I hope you will do the same, MOBs!

This eBook briefly chronicles how Brooke came to the Lord over and over for her boys out of desperation. She realized that the “battle for their hearts would be best fought on [her] knees” (paraphrase).  So she kept praying from Scripture and developed a passion to share her “Warrior Prayers” with other MOBs.

The eBook also contains an invaluable collection of the prayers Brooke uses to pray over her sons, broken up by 21 categories, such as Obedience, Gentleness, Pride, and Salvation. Let me tell you that I prayed for my son that night. And I hadn’t prayed for him in days.

Brad and I have been praying a certain prayer over Samuel since he was born, a prayer for him to be a strong man who loves God and points other people to Him. As Sam gets older, I know I will encounter more challenges as a mom-discipler than I can imagine and will need to seek God often.

But I’m going to start now. Because I need these prayers as much as Samuel does. I need to orient my heart towards what God wants for him, rather than what I want. Instead of wanting him to be well-educated, successful, and athletic, I shall want him to be a man who seeks after the heart and character of God.

I hope that you will join me. And Brooke. I’m excited to announce that she’s hosting 21 Days of Prayers for Sons beginning April 1. I’ll be committing to praying each day for my son.

Dayspring Ever Grateful {Review and Giveaway!}

One of the generous sponsors of Relevant was DaySpring. Not only did they sponsor the conference, but they sponsored an entire lounge for the attendees. The lounge was decked out in coffee, beautiful DaySpring products, more coffee, sweet things of every nature, and hot coffee :). It was awesome.

When they offered to provide us with samples from Blessings Unlimited (their direct sale line), I gladly signed up – the tableware and homegoods are my style and have some of my favorite colors.

From the Ever Grateful line, they sent me this lovely memo board with easel:

Cute, huh? Now, I have a non-fancy house, so I was pleased to see that the ceramic board also has hooks for hanging if you don’t want to set it on the easel (or want to use the easel for something else you have ;-)).

Also, although I love being surrounded by scripture, I often have unbelievers in my home, so I don’t like having giant scripture references on every.single.thing. The scripture on the board is very subtly placed at the bottom.

Let there be thankfulness to God.
EPHESIANS 5:4 NLT

If you choose the use the memo board as pictured, there is room for a dry erase marker on the easel, albeit this room means the board doesn’t fit snugly. Personally, I would never write on the board (or if I did, the writing would remain there for 5 years), so I decided to do something else with mine (forgive the shadow and my absolute lack of photography skills):

You could do all sorts of things with this, like hang it on the wall, and paint a “frame” around it, permanently affix your children’s art to the board, paint your family’s motto on the board, tape up current scraps of interest, or – use a dry erase marker on it (daily menus, kiddo instructions, important phone numbers, or notes to your sweetie)! Those last ideas are for people more “with it” than me.

What’s that? You say you like it and would love some DaySpring Blessings yourself? Guess what!? We’re having a giveaway for a FREE $20 COUPON CODE to use as you please in the DaySpring store! The coupon code does not apply towards shipping costs.

Here’s how you can enter:

The contest ends Sunday, November 7 at 10:00PM CST. The winner will be announced Monday, November 8.

If you can’t wait, they have free shipping on orders over $50, and if you go to RetailMeNot.com, there are some coupon codes that might work for you!

Good luck everyone!
